Re: African American Mennonites
In Response To: African American Mennonites
() This is most interesting! I am just now "ran across" this article in the "Connecting the Disconnected" area, about Black Mennonites in Juniata PA. A few months ago, I "ran across" some folk in the census with one of my ancestral surnames, living in Juniata. The elder male had an identical name! My elder had disappeared in S.C. (I decided he was dead), and this man was about the right age... I wanted to think he could be my guy, but I convinced myself that he wasn't, even tho the name is unusual. I think maybe I need to investigate this matter further, and see what I can learn about Mennonites and the possibility of their having a mission in my S.C./N.C. border area. I had earlier considered the possibility of his somehow being involved with the Moravians, never quite proved or disproved. Hmmmmm. Thanks for posting this. It sure is pushing me to get back on the hunt for him. Messages In This Thread
