Last summer, through the Internet, Doris discovered her brother living just a few hours away in Connecticut.
After several months of planning the reunion, Richard, finally, came to Maine last Saturday to make it happen.
"I wrote in a card for my uncle, thank you for making my mom's life complete by coming here. That's her last wish. She was almost going to give up. I said no Mom this is going to happen," said Petre's daughter Lee Gallant.
"I just want to get talking to him, mend all those years for whatever years we still have left."
For decades just a handful of faded photographs were the only connection Petre had to the brother she hadn't seen since 1931.
To this day, Watrous said he still remembers the last time he saw his sister. He was 7. She was 4.
"I can remember her standing down there on the driveway, and I was in the back seat and I was waving to her until I got out of sight. That's the last time I saw her," said Watrous.
