Looking for my maternial Grandfather;

My father was Adopted in 1952 he was born in Santa Barbara Ca,1951 and I have nothing to go off of but what my adoptive grandmother told me and that is, my grandfather and grandmother were college kids. My grandfather was a college football player in Santa Barbara Ca. My grandfather's last name was Pitts and that's all the info that I have on my materinal grandparents. I would love if someone would be able to give me a lead, I am greatful for any tips or help.
