Re: Finding My Father
In Response To: Finding My Father ()

Can you share what info you already have like his name, date of and place of birth, if known?

When I was in your shoes, I started with my own birth certificate. It had my father's name and age on it and his place of birth, Kankakee IL (turned out he was actually born in Parkin, AR).So I started with Kankakee and the only other info I had, that he had been in the Navy in WWII. I eventually hooked up with him with the help of the Regional VA HQ in IL where he was living at that time.

Do you have an older relative or sibling who may have some info to share? After I found him, my older siblings began to tell me of how they remembered him when I was a baby. All those years it had never occurred to me to ask them if they knew anything. They knew LOTS!

And Cynthia is right, the Beginner's Forum here on Afrigeneas is excellent, please visit it if you haven't already. And remember, post, post, post, ask questions here, stay in touch, good luck.
