We are a white couple in South Africa in the process of adopting a black baby. The response from friends and acquaintences has been mixed. My biggest hope is that the child doesn't grow up with a huge chip on his shoulder because he was raised by white people. I am very fearful of this. I guess I can only hope for the best.
