Re: We Are Dad
In Response To: Re: We Are Dad ()

I am mixed race and any adopted child will have to have that talk one day about their birth parent. I was not adopted, but my white mother was into a black family (she had olive skin so she was passed off as light-skinned black along her puerto rican brother). She did have an issue with race since her family was so screwed up, but I did not. I know who I am.

People that ask that question really want you to say that it DOES matter to you what color the child is to make themselves feel better about their prejudice. It's like, "You'd much rather have a yellow baby instead of a black one since you're white, right?". A child will love you no matter what. If you instill them with love for themselves, they will grow up loving you as well. They will not "turn" on you for "their own" race. That's ridiculous. You ARE thier own race...human.
