Building Homes, Building Families helps those in need get a home

ASHEVILLE — Fostering children is both a privilege and a challenge. It’s even more challenging for families without quality housing.
Kia Mills, 24, of East Asheville knows firsthand the hardships and rewards of raising a foster child. She also knows about trying to do so in a small apartment with few amenities.

She applied more than a year ago for a Habitat for Humanity home and was turned down. When she applied a year later, her dream came true.
