Baby Ruth 'let down' by court

Not one South African family wanted to adopt this little girl, who survived being abandoned head-first in a bucket and dumped under a tree in the hours after her birth.
But now a majority Supreme Court of Appeal ruling has prevented an American family from taking custody of two-and-a-half-year-old Baby Ruth after a long and expensive court battle - drawing strong criticism from one of the court's own judges.
On Friday, three Supreme Court of Appeal judges found that while American couple Althea and Django de Gree could provide Baby Ruth with a loving and secure home in rural Washington, they should have applied for custody of her in the Children's Court.
