First Neighbors, Now Family – How a Couple Who Didn’t Want Kids Was Blessed with Three

When Steve Johnson and Brenda Box decided to get married, they agreed that children wouldn’t be part of the picture.

Johnson had two adult children from a previous marriage, and Box wasn’t sure she wanted children, but three little neighbors had other plans for them.

The couple, who lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. at the time, had become friendly with three children who lived next door with an aunt. The children would talk to them while the pair worked in the yard, and after a while became regular visitors to the Johnson-Box home.
