In Response To: Obama is gonna force government care on me! (Robert Goins)

Robert, you said: "When he finishes, I have a bridge I want to sell you. Why is it that some Americans believe the government is going make you see a government approved doctor under the government option health care plan? I mean, does the government make people on Medicare--a government run health plan-- see a specific doctor?

Sounds someone or several someones don't want government regulation. Can anyone name who might be afraid of government regulation? "

My reply: Some Americans believe it because that is what they have heard. I will soon be eligible for Medicare which will become my primary insurer. I don't like it, but I have no choice in the matter. The current insurance plan I have will become my secondary insurer at that time.

The funny thing is, Robert, what is happening to me and to millions of other Americans is that we are being forced to accept Medicare as our primary insurer, no matter how satisfied we are with our current insurer. So, the example of Medicare is not one to use in this argument.

Now, I grant you the benefits of Medicare are astounding. I talked before of when I visit my surgeon's office, it is like a homecoming - we patients have gotten to know one another.

There was much sympathy for me because I could not get a scooter chair even though I had more serious ambulatory problems than many in the office. They proudly showed off their chairs, danced with them, waltzed them in and out the doors, around and around, etc.

Some people might view this as waste, Robert. I certainly do. But, in order to recoup some of my stimulus losses, I am going to go straight out and get myself a scooter chair - after all, need is not an issue when the government is paying for it.

Did you see the news segment where a woman purchased a wheelchair for about $1, 300 and the news reporter bought an identical chair for about $300? That's your government at work, Robert.

My question to you is, who is paying for all this largesse, and who is going to pay for it in the future? Show me Obama's plan for health care reform and maybe, just maybe, I will admit I have been mislead by those 'Blue Dog Democrats" and their Republican counterparts.

As for who is afraid of government regulation, I, for one, am. After all, the government 'regulated' Wall Street, did it not? Does not the government regulate defense spending? Isn't government currently regulating our auto industry which is achieving record layoffs? Is not government currently regulating our banking system where the amount of bonuses given to executives has achieved new heights in some cases?

Huh? What say you, Robert.

P.S. You can't sell the Brooklyn Bridge; it probably already belongs to the Chinese.
