In searching for my grandfather, I located him on the US Federal Census, for the State of Rhode Island, he was living in the "household of a Henry Hawkins, and Henry was from Baltimore. Check out the census, Henry could be a relative since he was from there. Thought this might be interesting to you. Henry had a daughter Clara Hawkins, 2 children and several siblings living in the same household. Newport, Rhode Island. Good luck.
