Re: AFrican Americans in my hometown
In Response To: AFrican Americans in my hometown ()
There is a book called Afro-Americans in New Jersey written by Giles R. Wright. This book contains historical information on various cities/towns in New Jersey. There is also statistical data relating to the number of African-Americans living in Morris County in 10 year increments. For example, around 1860 only 1 slave was recorded and 686 were free. In 1980, there were an estimated 10,017 African-Americans living in this county. Because this book does not have an index, it cannot be determined if Florsham Park is mentioned. Another source would be to check out the Morris County Historic Commission located in Morristown, NJ.
