Edy is my g-g-g-grandmother, born about 1815. She is a descendant of Judy, an American Indian. Judy descendant Cate Coleman was involved in a suit in the Brunswick Co. Virginia superior Court which enable she and her family to recover their freedom. The case bagan in 1803 and was finalled settled in 1814. There are missing links between Judy and my G-G-G-grandmother, Edy. I need help in sorting out the pieces. The court case:"Caty a Pauper vs George Atkins & John Wyche, Guardian of Simms' Orphans." Caty was a direct descendant of Judy through her father Will Coleman who married Nancy, bothe were slaves owned by the Colemans. Francis Coleman (b. ca 1697) brought Judy from William Peters of South Carolina in ca 1714. Judy was ca 13-14 years at the time. The Coleman Plantation was in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. I would appreciate any help or suggestion in sorting out this very interesting and basic data. HELP!
Thanks
Coleman
