Just came across this two year old post!

And now I have the answer ~ my THOMAS SHAW SWAN decided to make that his middle name after teaching there!

His daughter,my aunt,happened to tell her grand daughter many years ago. Ond day, I was talking with the grand daughter and happened to mention how fascinated I was with his middle name and she recalled the conversation about it.

You never know where/ when those Brick Walls will crack.

So, the answer is that we are not related to the SHAW family at all.
