I was really overjoyed and yet surprise since this message was posted back in February, 2002.

I'm not sure about Elihu Vance, however, there is listed in Abbeville County, S.C. Frank Vance and his family in the census of 1880. The Evans part is that of William Evans listed as a painter in the 1880 census.

I mention Frank and William believed to be my great grandfathers. Thanks for the response. Joseph
