In Response To: Re: SLAVE/MARKET HOUSE, Fayetteville,(Cumberland County) NC ()
Just as you have your African heritage, which, I might add, has been FORCED on my children in school etc, those of us from the South have OUR southern heritage too. The Market House was not just a place where slaves were sold and if you have done your homework properly, you would have known that. Like many historical landmarks, it will stand in the center of our city - not as a memorial to the slave trade - but as a memorial to the people who built this city. You weren't a slave and no doubt you are reaping the benefits of what your grandfather sacrificed, so get over it! If you don't like our Market House and insist on calling it a Slave House, why don't you just go somewhere else in our country and see how many people are actually SLAVES TODAY! If you don't know about that, you are more ignorant than your misspelled words in your message. PS You are promoting racism - shame on you!!
