Re: Woodson and Nooks
In Response To: Woodson and Nooks ()

There are two individuals who are directly related to me. They are the Rev T.(Thomas) Woodson and N.(Noah) Nooks. I need more information on N Nooks because I need to know the relationship between him and my ggg grandfather, David Nukes who married my ggg grandmother, Jemima (Woodson)Nooks, the sister to Rev T Woodson.

Hello,

The timeframe for the Newspaper (Palladium of Liberty) was in the mid 1840's, so I looked at the 1850 Census for your ancestors. You will find quite a bit of information in the 1850 Census.

Rev. Thomas Woodson is found in Milton Twp., Jackson Co., OH with a Jimmima (sp) in the household that appears to be his wife.

A Noah Nooks is also found in Milton Twp., Jackson Co., OH, he has what appears to be 11 children in 1850.

We find three (3) David Nukes in the 1850 Census 1 in Highland Co., OH and the other 2 in Clinton Co., OH.

All (Woodson & Nooks, Nukes) are listed as Mulattoes.

You may want to work from yourself back into time to determine the relationships you are seeking. 1850 Census does not state the actual relationships, but you may assume wife & children.

Hope this helps,
Art Thomas
