Just to clarify, the Family Tree Maker software Art purchased (or Legacy someone mentioned) is for entering his data into his computer. Access to online census images is through subscriptions to sites such as Art mentioned, Ancestry.com or Godfrey.org

Be sure to check to see if your local public library has access to census images through Heritage Quest. If they do, check to see if you can access it from your home by obtaining a library card. My local library recently added this option.

If no luck with that, check familysearch.org to find the nearest Family History Center. They have free access to Ancestry.com along with the other things they offer.
