Re: Am I Grabbing at Straws?
In Response To: Re: Am I Grabbing at Straws? ()

Polly,

Thanks for responding. Your response has the wheels turning as to other avenues I might check into.

I have copies of Constantines will as well as his fathers. My great great grandfather was Clem. Also have obtained the inventory of property of Bennett Fitzpatrick where Clem is also listed. Had not explored Zeno or any of the families that married into the family.

I live in Indiana so much of my research is from afar. My first major find occurred during my first visit to the archives when it was in Atlanta. Subsequent visits to Madison, and two return visits to the archives in Morrow yielded more. It appears that Mary Fitzpatrick Walton was the last slave holder of Clem. Will definitely start to explore Zeno and other families with ties to the Fitzpatricks. I had thought that there was a good chance that there may have been some ancestors who went to Alabama, but thus far I have not been able to identify Clem's parents or any siblings. Had also thought that some of the African Americans that married my ancestors were possibly from closely aligned slave holding families, but with the exception of one line, I have been unable to determine who the slave holders were. I had planned on my next visit to the archives to start exploring that possibility.
