Re: WHY DO I SEARCH?
In Response To: WHY DO I SEARCH? ()
I search, you search, most reading this search because we understand that the story of each individual family is important. Each ancester located for ANYONE is another thread in the woven tapestry of history. Without it, the picture would not be complete. We search because the trials and joys of those who went before give us a better perspective and understanding to meet the trials and joys in our own lives. Many people who do not search and research do not understand that information which can be summarized on a page or two may represent years worth of digging, effort, communication and luck. So they do not share our satisfaction and joy of accomplishment in being able to say "They were here, and THIS is how I know it." They just don't "get it".
Make your information available, There will be someone who appreciates it, even if your immediate circle of relatives do not. So keep your webpage going so that other researchers can connect. Work with anyone interested. Take a friend along to the library and help them get started. Pass out "family trees" to the young people in the family to see if you can plant a seed of interest, even if their parents are not interested.
