Re: WHY DO I SEARCH?
In Response To: WHY DO I SEARCH? ()
Personally, I primarily began my search for the sake of my sanity. On my paternal side I only have 1 1st cousin (not very close) and 2 2nd cousins (sisters, both 80+ & suffering from Alzheimers) left. The feeling of not having family or having no one to laugh & discuss the "good times" with was having a negative effect on my entire being....but I knew there was more family "out there...somewhere". I had notes from an aunt's "interview" with Grandmother, detailing all she knew about her parentage and siblings, etc.......and it was up to me to fight thru the lack of education for those ancestors of that era + the "going one's own way" = lost communication between family and try to put this jigsaw puzzle of life & love together. As Granny would say, it's been a "tough row to hoe", but I'm finally finding success....I found a cousin in Texas doing the same research !! We have exchanged info, pics, etc. and we'll probably have "Dinner on the ground" at the old church in Fodice, Tx. next year. That, my friends, made the whole journey worth the effort.
Thanks to all of the Afrigeneas family for the tips, links, and encouragement throughtout the years.
