Twenty Dollars Reward for Tom GADDEN, slave

from... Pittsburgh Gazette Abstracts 1797-1803:
TWENTY dollars reward: On the 8th of May, inst., ranaway from the subscriber living on the Glade road in Westmoreland county, 10 miles from Greensburgh, a negro slave named Tom GADDEN, about 5'7" high, a very active, stout well made fellow, talks both the English and German languages, and remarkable as to having very red eyes; he took with him one pair of yellow twilled overalls and jacket, one coat of clouded nankeen, one white linen coat and a deep blue cloath coat, one pair of woolen hose, one fine and one wool hat, and sundry other wearing apparel, the presumption is that he intends either going down the river Ohio or to Presqu' isle. Whoever takes up said slave and brings him home to his master, or secures him in any jail, shall have the above reward with reasonable charges paid by me. /s/Jacob PAINTER, May 11.
