Hit a brick wall, can anyone help

I am searching for my grandmothers fathers family. I am looking for a John Durnell, he was born between 1812 & 1813, he was born in Delaware or Maryland and he married a lady named Elizabeth Jackson. John could have been mulatto. I am not sure, he moved to Chester County New Garden Township, near Delaware.

I have hit a brick wall, if anyone can help, please email me directly at tjgr8mom@aol.com.

They had the following children, all of who were born in Chester County, PA.

In the 1850 Chester County Census, the following were listed:

John Durnell 37yrs., race: Black, laborer, place of birth: Delaware, his father's name may have been Levin Durnell

Elizabeth 35 yrs., black, place of birth listed as DE/PA.

Children:

Sarah E. 6 yrs., Female, black, attended school
Rebecca 5 yrs., Female, black, born in PA
Elizabeth 4 yrs., Female, black, pa
Catharine 3 yrs., Female, black
Samuel, 2 yrs., Female, black,(May be my ggrandfathers father, not sure
Marion, 1 female, black

There were more kids listed after 1850, will get them later.
