Re: FPOC 1850 Loudoun County VA

I should have been able to figure that out--sometimes my brain doesn't seem to be working (smile). I went down to Leesburg, VA after visiting with my cousins in Pottstown, PA where my father was born. I spent two and a half days taking pictures, visiting grave sites, and swapping stories. I found that a second cousin was a repository for family obituaries. She saved them all. This enabled me to establish death dates and hopefully speed up the process of obtaining death certificates. At the JACKSON family reunion to be held in Hammpton, VA, all the cousins will be sharing pictures and other inportant items that will help in my research. Maybe I shall be able to get someone else interested in genealogy. An important contact there was the minister of the local AME church where my grandfather was a member. He'll help me in assessing some church records.
I spent two and a half days in Leesburg at the same hotel you stayed. I came away from Loudoun County empty-handed as far as genealogical data is concerned; however, I learned a lot about its history and met a Mrs. Clayton of the African American group at Balch Library. I also purchased their book.
My frustration in my search was that there were so many Thomas JACKSONs listed, but none seemed to be a direct link to either my grandfather or grtgrfather. I shall return again soon.
Through all this rambling, I hope that you can feel my frustration and my glee.
