Re: LOOKUP--South Carolina/Virginia Black Caldwell
In Response To: Re: LOOKUP--South Carolina/Virginia Black Caldwell ()
I have Lee Adams' info from age 5 to present. I assume Effie Caldwell would have been 16 or younger at the time she married Lee in 1893. I couldn't find an Effie in Monroe Co Ms, that was a Caldwell. The census taker did write her name on a later census as ARTHY. Maybe that's why I can't find the real spelling anywhere.I don't know why. She was called EFFIE. Maybe there is a ARTHY somewhere on a Virginia, Mississippi or Alabama census for 1880. I'm just trying anything. Went to a Local Genealogy Seminar and learned more info to look back to.Such as Tax List, abandoned lands and and find out who the tax collector was so I can find his account records. It will give information of who payed taxes for what. Might be able to find family groups for blacks.I didn't think joining this particular society was worth it because so few of them have information to help black researchers', but a noted newscaster in our city is behind this and helping our library get a lot of new records to help Afro Americans. IF YOU PLEASE--will you look for the spelling of ARTHY CALDWELL. I will print this and go back to the library to see what else I can possibly find. AND THANK YOU.
