I asked another elderly relative on my grandfather's side. He's just a little bit older than my other elderly relatives. He knows a lot of my grandmother's family because they all grew up in the same "neck of the woods". Well, he is friends with a descendant of Spence, who happens to carry Spence's name as his middle name. Well, this cousin told me that he always thought that my grandmother was kin to "that set". Go figure! :)
