Thank you all for the help you are giving me.

My Amos's left Massachusetts in the late 30's to early 40's, and moved to Philadelphia, PA. Most of the Amoses I found in the 1910/1920 MA census were white. I'm going to Philadelphia, this weekend and have a long chat with my mother. She still receives a widows' pension, from my father's death. I'll go through her papers again.
Maybe, I'll find something this time.
