Wow, what a spectacular find! I am scanning deed abstracts myself, looking for familiar names in Covington Co., MS amd Edgecombe Co., NC. The abstracts are a very good resource. They are type-written, note all names that are mentioned in the deeds, including slave names, and who the slaves were given to.

I am going to see if St. Clair Co., AL and Tippah Co., MS have deed and probate abstract books...I beleive I have found the last slave owner of my Rogan line.
