I finally get it!

For the longest time I have been so frustrated over the fact that though my GGG Grandfather's Slaveowners both left wills, neither made mention of the slaves they owned...

Now thanks to David (See: What Is An Indenture?/Slavery Forum)I understand that they didn't mention specifics re: slaves in their respective wills because the slaves had already been "deeded" to their children beforehand...

I have just discovered a deed that for the first time identifies my Grandfather James by name at age 5 years...

Thanks David for helping me to make some sense out of it...
