Re: Name order help
In Response To: Name order help ()

I've thought of this too in trying to figure out my gg-grandfather's parents names, he was born 1852 AL in either Perry or Dallas County (African American's in the 1870 Census)....also his Jr happened to be the 3rd boy born....

GG-GF Silas MOORE.......GG-GM Ella BURNEY dau. of Eben and Jeanette BURNEY...children in order of birth were:
1. Jackson born 10 June, 1876
2. Julia (Clara Julia or Julia Clara) 1877
3. Eben 1879....named for Ella's father...
4. V---- (female)1883
5. Silas (named for father)
6. Willie (male)1887
7. Adaline 'Addie' 1890
8. Ella (named for mother)1892
9. Matthew 1895
10. James 1897

Seems right that the 1st son Jackson may have been Silas' father's name, while the 2nd son Eben was Ella's father's name. In the 1866 Colored Population Perry County, AL there is listed a Jackson MOORE but he is not found in 1870 census.....There is 1 Jack age 70, born AL and 1 Jack 78 born NC in Wilcox which is a neighboring county. This is a research goal for me this year.
