Census Transcriptions
Volunteers are being recruited for a two-part effort. Those interested in transcribing the Federal Census for any locale, in particular the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules, are asked to volunteer for the USGenWeb Census Project. Those who are interested in transcribing State or Local censuses, tax lists, or in abstracting census data for a particular surname or extracting names of African Americans from any census can contribute them to the African American Census Schedules Online website. Anyone interested in doing any census transcriptions are asked to contact the coordinator first.
