alt: Hello Khathu

vkn: Howdy Khathu

daviss: hi HistoryBuff

vkn: Howdy HistoryBuff

Khathu: The Cartwright descent just informed me that the earliest entry in her ggg grandfather's (Rev. Joseph Cartwright) Bible was 1701

alt: hello HistoryBuff Hello AYWalton

Khathu: I can not wait until she send me the transcriptions or digital pictures of the Bible.

AYWalton: Good afternoon, all.

daviss: Heyyyyy AYWalton!!

vkn: Howdy AYW

AYWalton: Howdy alt, daviss, HistoryBuff, Khathu.

Khathu: Hello AYW and HistoryBuff

AYWalton: Greetings, vkn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you are all doing well. Hey Khathu good to see you. How have you been?

vkn: Backatcha AYW

HistoryBuff: Hey AYW

AYWalton: Sent you email a day or two ago, vkn.

daviss: I can say I am AYWalton, what about you?

vkn: Yes AYW nothing was attached

Khathu: AYW - just amazed by the earliest entry in Rev. Joseph Cartwright's Bible

AYWalton: busy as the dickens, daviss, but I guess that's normal. what is that Khathu?

HistoryBuff: '

Khathu: The earliest entry is dated 1701

AYWalton: my goodness!!

HistoryBuff: :}

Khathu: I know!!!!

HistoryBuff: Amazing

alt: Khathu, any idea of when the entries into the bible were made?

vkn: Wonderful Khathu

Khathu: So it must be one of his grandparents since he was born around 1783 I think it was his personal Bible but I am not sure alt

AYWalton: how did you come across the Bible, Khathu?

alt: I ask because "when" the entires are made is of great importance.

AYWalton: what is the publication date of the Bible?

Khathu: The Bible has been in the Cartwright family. His ggg grand daughter was my academic mentor during under grad

AYWalton: And did they share it with you or present it to you?

HistoryBuff: Wow!

Khathu: She shared a few pages but I am waiting for the rest of it.

AYWalton: how exciting to see something so old. ask her to also copy the title page (showing the printing date.)

alt: the genealogy contained in the bible are great Khathu

Khathu: It is at least 250 years old because he died in 1851

AYWalton: amazing! And how wonderful that you are still in touch with your mentor as well.

alt: but was the information recorded prior to 1851?

HistoryBuff: Interesting artifacts

Khathu: Not sure

alt: I think that's what AYWalton & I are asking

Khathu: That would require some hand writing analysts.

AYWalton: Was the data written in the same penmanship? Or were there various entries made with various hands?

Khathu: the older entries were definitely by someone else left out written

vkn: HistoryBuff did you get note from me re military ?

alt: right, the genealogyin the bible could be a "family log".

AYWalton: you might want to determine the last date of each person's entry. Might give you an idea about time the data was possibly entered.

Khathu: the last entry was in 1901 which was the death of her great grandmother

HistoryBuff: I have not chkd my email yet

AYWalton: quite interesting. Howdy Mizz Selma!!!

alt: exactly, if the entry's were placed in the bible before the death of the owner in 1851.... then you've really got something!!!!!!!

HistoryBuff: Hey Selma

vkn: What time do you leave AYWalton

Khathu: The family was very prominent in the Mehtodist Church

alt: hello Selma

AYWalton: Oh Bernice told me to tell everybody hello. She can't get into the chats anymore. Everytime she downloads javascript her computer acts strangely.

vkn: Interestimg on line meeting practice with ProfDru

AYWalton: The woman is researching the existance ofa a white woman either volunteering service for the USCT, or even married to a USCT. She said that after reading my blog, she is discouraged from blogging on the subject. Her husband is a reenactor with the 54th and the 23rd and she is looking for a role to play. Khathu, that sounds great! sounds like one of the tracks at MAAGI. ( )

vkn: AYWalton no attachments to email you sent to me

daviss: discouraged or encouraged AYWalton

AYWalton: perhaps she can play one of the teachers in the Freedman schools or something, but I am not so sure about her playing the wife of a USCT. I don't think that would have happened.

alt: yeah daviss, I wondered also about that

AYWalton: unless she plays the wife of an officer. I shall resend, vkn.

vkn: Thanx

alt: is she a "white" lady AYWalton?

AYWalton: well she said she was.
