alt: feeling nostalgic.... put Anita & my HS graduation photos on Facebook... can you believe 55 & 60 years out of HS .... Wow!!!! LOL

Seventies: Its the Americanized version of it. Crab meat (cooked), sliced cucumber, Avocado and wrapped in seaweed and rice. LOL

Selma: Its important to be specific that has impact on what you are looking for

alt: it sure does Selma one big lesson from this exchange.... FPOC records are 'plentiful' in both the US & Canada and if you're serious you can find them.

alt: plentiful.. in the sense that they are the same records used by 'white' genealogists in their US & Canada research.... vitals, land, census, directories, etc.

AYWalton: of course I am dealing with a mild case of allergies/postnasal drip turned into bronchitis. But it is getting better. Yes, and off to Philadelphia on Saturday, but that is a 1 day trip. And then on June 10, off to Birminham.

keli1: no not knew ones, just the same ones, I might have to conclude the info is just not there

Seventies: I do know you can search FL on family search, vkn

AYWalton: FL is indexed and searchable, now.

vkn: hmmmm will try again seventies

Daviss: It is searchable but not fully

AYWalton: on Family Search site it says that it is searchable.

alt: indexed does not always mean searchable vkn... browsable, but not searchable as we are now used to.

AYWalton: One thing I have felt while looking at 1940 census is a tiny bit of sadness, because many of the folks living in the 1930s had died---this is the first year that many who were born enslaved were now gone. so the tie to those who survived slavery had ended. the gr. grandparents were gone---except for Sallie---who lived till 1961. She was born during the Civil War years. Keli1 are you still indexing?

vkn: Yes my grands were all deceased pre 1930

keli1: oh good point AY, it is sad, but happy for most of our parents, to be seen yes still indexing

Selma: Still haven't found my Mom..waiting for NY to be complete

alt: true AYWalton , I have many born int he 1850's & 1860's who died in the decade between 1930 & 1940.

AYWalton: I have my mom, but not my dad.

Selma: You still haven't found your Dad..I was about to ask

keli1: i got both of mine, dad was born in 1924 and mom 1930, but after the 1930 census was taken, so she showed up in 1940

AYWalton: I know he was in the same city he was in 1930, but I guess he was part of the undercount.

vkn: Dad 1876-1938 Mom 1892-1974

Selma: When she was visiting..she gave me the streets that she thought she was living on..but did not see.

AYWalton: Did you all see the Forensic Genealogy Institute?

keli1: oh yes, I would love to take it AY

Selma: Did find some cousins living on West 116th street..

AYWalton: Also I see that SLIG in Salt Lake is now open for registration, or will be.

Selma: I looked at my neighborhood where we moved in the 1960's..it was just about all Italian in the 1940's

AYWalton: some of those folks are making mega bucks. No Afr. Am presenters this year, but I hope they will have some for next year, since they are holding the Afr. American track at SLIG. It is interesting Selma to see who was living in your house before your family moved there.

Selma: Yes..

alt: so you get to see the changing demographics of your neighborhood, huh Selma?

Selma: Found the apartment buidling where I grew up in the 1950's in the Bronx too

Selma: The neighborhood in the 1960's was heavily Italian when we moved there in the 1960's..Bakery and Pizza Palors on every blook on White Plains Road

AYWalton: I saw that vehicle 3 times that day!

alt: vkn, I would like to hear Hasker Nelson... he did a weekly Black show on Cincinnati TV for 25 years before he retired in 1999 ... a true Black media personality.

vkn: Pearl is on the mailing list and so is Hasker

Daviss: she will be on the show in June or July.. I need to check back with her
