Seventies Soulchild: lol How are you doing today?
alt: okay, I think
Seventies Soulchild: ??? I received my information from the Blount County, TN library. They sent me two newspaper clippings. One I already had. The other I didn't. It was compiled by my uncle's foster son Zelmo Howard who he and his wife raised until their divorce. So I'm wondering if I can order the divorce decree for them. The first I've ever requested. Are you there alt? Or did Mrs. bring your lunch?
alt: not yet.. she's out shopping
Seventies Soulchild: ah okay I need to hit the lotto so I can do this full time... lol Hello Daviss & bbenn
bbenn: Hello alrm daviss, Seventies Soulchild

Daviss: good seventies and bbenn I heard that movie was very good lol
alt: hello Daviss & bbenn
bbenn: I enjoyed it! Husband thought that it was ok:?
Daviss: with some of the characters I bet it was hilarious
bbenn: Good news! Washington Post will visit the HC next Monday to interview the AA SIG Members! So excited:p
Daviss: How's it going alt?
Seventies Soulchild: great bbenn!
Daviss: that is good news bbenn!!
alt: bbenn, I just saw your posting on Lyndsey Gist.... INteresting history of the fromer Gist Slave Settlements in Ohio during the early 1800's.
bbenn: nice place to also plug my show!
Daviss: indeed bbenn!
alt: plug away bbenn LOL lOL
bbenn: Will do! Trying to get another show featured with btr.
Seventies Soulchild: Ok so my next project after this Thompson-Galmore thing will be to focus on my Washington-McFarland-Earls family line. Wish me good fortune!
bbenn: Good luck!
alt: you got it Seventies Soulchild
Daviss: The name Gist reminds me of a couple that my parents were friends with when we lived in Okinawa. Ted and lillian Gist
alt: really Daviss
Seventies Soulchild: Aren't you well traveled Daviss? I haven't been any further than Saudi Arabia.
Daviss: I admired them greatly alt
Seventies Soulchild: Sounds like some folks you may know, huh alt?
alt: Hello vkn
Seventies Soulchild: Hello vkn
Daviss: hello vkn!!
vkn: Good Monday to each and all
Seventies Soulchild: Yes after the mandatory two cups of coffee! lol
Daviss: bbenn how many peeps in your group at the HC?
alt: I doubt it Seventies Soulchild, starnge as it may sound very few of the 900+ slaves freed by Samule gist took/kept the surname of Gist... I find the surname rather unusual among AA's.
Seventies Soulchild: ok
bbenn: 10 folks today...usually 15.
vkn: Only in for a secs but wanted to point out two new amazing break through
alt: that's a nice sized group bbenn

Seventies Soulchild: hi cat703
Daviss: howdy cat703!
cat703: hey all!
Seventies Soulchild: why do you say that?
vkn: Moreover it seems to me that we may be missing the boat by not focusing on records sets in the five year period from the end of the war to the 1870 Census
bbenn: One of our members just brought an original document of a family member that mentions the FBI Loyalty form required for federal employmen in 1943. hi cat703!
cat703: hey
vkn: I am out for now but will hammer away at some point and on "baby daddy"
bbenn: Sorry folks! I have to run...they are calling me.

Seventies Soulchild: ok well I received my documents from Blount Co, TN regarding my uncle B.E. Washington. Gave me more clues to look for.
Daviss: what other records besides Freedman's, voter rolls, tax records am I missing btw 1865-70
cat703: new?
alt: well, not new, but changed

alt: progress is taking place and the AfriGeneas "staff" is listening to the users
Daviss: lol vkn ran off before I could ask about break through...
Seventies Soulchild: yes, I thought she was going to tell us what it was...
Daviss: I know on my missing peeps I have looked through most of the records I just mentioned
Seventies Soulchild: the records between 1865 and 1870?
Daviss: I could use a few more places to look yes
alt: well, the thing is AfriGeneas has "staying power" and is not just a "shooting star" like some many of the new AA/Black efforts on the Internet.
Daviss: true alt!
cat703: very true
Daviss: Its been around a long, long time
alt: and not just AA/Black efforts.....
cat703: alt, i took your advise about letting folks tell a story
Seventies Soulchild: So Daviss, would you say that the records from 1865 to 1870 are almost exclusively records dealing with the federal government and African americans?
Daviss: I don't know those behind the scenes but I am sure you are right alt, as with everything else we have had support through-out the centuries
AYWalton: Good afternoon, all.
alt: good cat703...
