deannie: I'm back...I learning my way around the site....thanks vkn
vkn: okies deannie
Bearnut2: Its going! lol I have a mystery to work out...
deannie: Do tell Hi bbenn
vkn: bbenn how you be? Good to see you
Bearnut2: hey bbenn--talk to your cuz yet?
bbenn: Hi deannie, Bearnut2, Seventies Soulchild, vkn I have not spoken to him yet, called but no response.
Bearnut2: you'll probably have to call him again--Sunday late afternoon is good cuz I'll be over there
bbenn: ok, I will call tomorrow.
Bearnut2: ok...my mystery...
deannie: yes
Bearnut2: my paternal grandma and her known first cousins came back as dna 5th cousins... cousin--only one so I tracked down a 2nd cousin to them both and sent him a kit so we are waiting to see who is "odd man out" so to speak
bbenn: how many segments did you match with your 5th cousin?
Bearnut2: My grandmother matched one paltry little segment with him as did her brother and her sister matched 2 with him...but "genealogically" they are supposed to be 1st cousins, their parents were siblings
vkn: hmmmmm DNA is above my pay grade
Bearnut2: The percentage should have been 8-14% but it was only .13% lol
bbenn: interesting?
Bearnut2: my father and I shared no segments with him very interesting!
bbenn: I matched two sisters who did not match each other, now that's a mystery or a big error in the system.
vkn: whoa
Bearnut2: yikes! what did they say?
bbenn: my sister matches my daughter as her mother!lol lol
Bearnut2: lol--identical twins?
bbenn: Did don't know what to say. I am going to meet them in a couple of weeks. yes, identical twins.
Bearnut2: I am glad that my half sister came back as a match with our family--they didn't do dna tests back then
bbenn: My European matches are sending me lots of information but I cannot find the connection.
vkn: do you need need to do retesting bbenn
bbenn: probably
Bearnut2: yeah same here but I think I need to get my great uncle a y test and that will help a lot you shouldn't have to retest but those sisters probably need to unless you didn't match your daughter as her mother...
bbenn: I think that they are requesting to be retested. I would...something is definitely wrong.
vkn: oops gotta run y'all be good
bbenn: My daughter has two mother's:}
Bearnut2: I hope it was a lab error and not a "switched at birth" error
bbenn: Our children test as half siblings...they love that:}
deannie: I know you do
Bearnut2: thats cool bbenn
bbenn: Gee, I really hope that it is a lab error. The funny think is that they both match everyone in my family. funny thing...
Bearnut2: whoa
AYWalton: Good evening all.
Bearnut2: that is majorly weird! do they have anyone else in their family to test?
deannie: Hi Angak Sorry Angela
bbenn: I don't know.
Bearnut2: Hey AYW
AYWalton: howdy bbenn, Bearnut2, deannie, SoulChile. lol that's ok. how you are all well.
bbenn: Hi aywalton
AYWalton: I am sneezing with allergies but that is normal for April.
bbenn: I was waiting for you to call in last night with your 1940 story...
deannie: You are not by yourself
AYWalton: lol I didn't want to call in and say that I can't find my daddy! I had thought about it though.
bbenn: lol
AYWalton: I have found aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bearnut2: lol
AYWalton: And I have my mom as well, before she had met my dad. they didn't meet till about 1946 or so.
bbenn: I tried looking for my mom but I will have to look through census for 3 States.
AYWalton: I may have to wait till the state is indexed. I am now looking for my dad in Oklahoma counties as well.
Bearnut2: most of my folks moved after 1930 cuz very few are where they were before
bbenn: The rural areas definitely easier then searching in the city
AYWalton: so the migration had begun, huh bearnut? and where were they in 1930?
Bearnut2: yep but they didn't move north or anything, oh no, they moved across town to a different district lol
AYWalton: ah lol where were they based, bearnut2?
Bearnut2: Tennessee, Florida, ALabama
AYWalton: I see. you still have ties in those states?
Bearnut2: Pretty much--I'm going to FL this summer for 2 Family reunions and research
bbenn: good night everyone!
AYWalton: nite bbenn
Bearnut2: I don't know anyone in AL but there are some still there
AYWalton: I see. you are in St. Louis, right?
Bearnut2: yep--remember Charles Brown
AYWalton: yes did you grow up there? Or what took you there?
Bearnut2: I came here in 85 to go to college and never left
AYWalton: I see! where did you go? Wash u? Umsl? SLU?
Bearnut2: Washington University
AYWalton: I went to SLU.
Bearnut2: really? small world!
AYWalton: yep it sure is.
Bearnut2: lol
AYWalton: that was 1000 years ago, though. in the last millenium. lol
Bearnut2: well I think I'm gonna go. this typing lag is getting on my nerves
AYWalton: lol I hear ya. I too am going to run. Just popped in to say hello have a good one, folks.
Bearnut2: take care all
deannie: I going also I have to complete my packing good nite
