Daviss: my daughter was a usher and had to attend funerals lol I went with her sometimes I could tell you some stories lol lol

Seventies Soulchild: I remember when my uncle Jerry passed, in a similar fashion as my aunt suddenly at home, people were falling all out over the casket and after the funeral was done they were outside laughing and talking. Daviss, I know you can! LOL I bet some folks were shouting and getting the holy ghost during at least 2 or 3 of those funerals...

Daviss: yep, and I could tell you stories about some "real" cuting up lol

alt: I have a cousin who is a 'professional griever" she really puts on a show at funerals... family or not.

Selma: Not sure what you mean Historybuff? There were Ex Slave Associations which formed trying to get reparations..

HistoryBuff: Yes, Selma that's it. I just encountered this information today on a humble while searching for Dr. Mary Frances Berry's history publications.

Selma: Yes, her book My Face is Black its True..is very good

alt: the former Randolph Slave group formed an association for their descendants HistoryBuff... for trying to get the land back that was stolen from them in Ohio. only slave assoc. I've heard of.

Selma: Walter Hill (now deceased) who was at the National Archives did a presentation in the 1990's at an AAHGS Conference I tried to see if I could locate some organizations here in VA..but couldn't..then about 5 or 6 years ago

Selma: the Library of VA found a Charter for one group that was in Isle of Wight VA..named the officers.. There were groups all over..had different names..some ended up as scams I posted somewhere on Afrigeneas

alt: and it was said our folks were 'docile' ain't true they fought long and hard for their 'props' from their/our early history in this country.

Selma: There have been at least 2 articles in Prologue about these groups..one was done by Walter Hill many years ago..and one more recently They started in the late 1800's There are suppose to be letters at the National Archives written by folks who joined these groups..and were looking for their money

alt: I guess the fight for reparations, in some form, ain't too new.

HistoryBuff: You are referring to the National Ex-Slave Mutual Relief Bounty and Pension Association of the U.S.A.?

Selma: Yes

HistoryBuff: Okay. I knew there were other Relief Associations for Slave refugees, contraband and freedman. Didn't know about reparations prior to the Marcus Garvey movement. Selma, I did see the Walter Hill article printed in the Negro History Bulletin(1996)

Selma: I am pretty sure that he did one for Prologue..the more recent one was done by a woman

HistoryBuff: I guess I was linked to it in reference to compensation for former slaves of Confederate territory.

Selma: Read Dr. Berry's book will give you the details and good overview of the movement.

Daviss: History at all my schools consisted of Davy Crockett, Clara Barton and those characters I know now that it should have been up to me to venture out further

Seventies Soulchild: By the time I get down there and back here who knows how long it'll be. I may have to wait. 1:50 I wish that it were over at 3:00 like when they were in middle school

Daviss: HS here is over around 3 30

Seventies Soulchild: I'm moving to Phoenix! lol

Seventies Soulchild: But see this is when the kids can get in trouble. between 2 and 3 when parent's aren't home. I don't get in until almost 5

Seventies Soulchild: So I got them cell phones to check on them anytime I want to. But of course they think otherwise. lol

Daviss: Does their dad live in the same city

Seventies Soulchild: No he lives in Baltimore, MD

Daviss: so no checking there lol

Daviss: but I am sure they are good boys... I went through that with mine
