AmosNY: Hi SeventiesSoulchild.
Selma: Interesting post by sharon sutton (seraph?) on FBI records
AYWalton: doing good and you, Soulchile?
deannie: Hi Seventies
Seventies Soulchild: Doing great!
alt: yes it was Selma .. didn't know they were available. guess they're now open under the FOIA
Seventies Soulchild: Yes, I posted something on the FOIA laws recently. They are now doing the open government act. So they are trying to get more info out to those who request.
AYWalton: where was the post?
Selma: I forget which Forum...Soulchile probably knows
Seventies Soulchild: In the History and Genealogy forum... screen locked. sorry Since she brought up the topic, I recall visitng Hyde Park (FDR) and looking at the records stored there from his administration. There was a lot of spying going on of the black population at that time... several prominent people were mentioned, A philip Randolph was one who stood out. I wouldn't have considered the Pres libraries as resource or even the FBI. That was a good find on Sharon's part.
alt: I would imagine Seventies Soulchild, since he was the big mover & shaker behind the Labor movement and the fed employment act.
AYWalton: which Forum is the thread in, SoulChile? I don't think I have seen it.
Selma: Her family was very active in politics and civil rights
alt: for sure Selma fair employment act
