daviss: Almost every article I found of him mentioned that sermon I got an email today from the Boyds Publishing person and they dont have it in their catalogue rather the contact person R H Boyd started that Company and looking through those old church books he and my grands knew each other well

AYWalton: where was Boyd located?

daviss: His Co is in Tn

AYWalton: I was thinking TN. There was another black press there, as well.

daviss: Family of Boyd.. son Henry took over after he died

AYWalton: and one if not more than one of the black insurance companies was based in Tennessee, I think. was the company in Nashville, daviss?

daviss: yes, I think so too AYWalton in fact I think I saw in the book there was a insurance form Nashville is correct

AYWalton: ahh, wow. They probably all knew each other.

daviss: they did AYWalton evidence of it in the book

AYWalton: yep, that makes sense.

daviss: there are two more log book that I wish I could get

AYWalton: where did you get the one you have?

daviss: From my Uncle who had them after they closed down the church I have the ones that start at 1924 I wish I could get that one from 1919

daviss: not sure where the other one started but the 2nd book I have starts about 1938

jhonora: Good. Not sure if you all are familiar with the Amistad Center, but their director of Archives is suing for wrongful termination.

AYWalton: when was the director terminated?

jhonora: For being a whistle blower and jealousy from Exec. Director.

jhonora: She was terminated a few weeks ago, after 17 years of employment.

AYWalton: wow after 17 years! and what reason was given for the termination?

jhonora: Neglect of duties

AYWalton: that is too bad.

jhonora: It is in the courts, so it should be interesting. fyi Amistad is the largest repository of AA & minority material in country.

Ingrid_Doweary: How was that possible?

AYWalton: larger than Schomburg?

jhonora: Hard to believe, but yes.

AYWalton: really? I was not aware of that.

jhonora: They have among other collections the papers of the Amer. Missionary Assoc.

AYWalton: worth spending some time looking at. I shall revisit their site and look at their holdings more closely.
